The Parish GIFT (Growing in Faith Together) Programmes 1, 2 & 3 are designed for 11-13yr olds. On the programmes, children take part in fun activities, pray together, discuss various topics such as friendship, gifts and relationships and will have a positive experience of belonging to the Catholic Church and their own parish. The programme is facilitated by volunteers, parent leaders and young people doing the Pope John Paul II Award, all trained to share the faith in a fun and age appropriate way.
In Parish GIFT 1, the focus is on remembering our Confirmation and developing unique God-given gifts and talents. As well as praying, singing, reading scripture and a tour of their church, the children will be involved in a variety of sessions including first aid, arts and crafts, cookery and games. Parish GIFT 2 looks at caring for ourselves and learning new skills in life. Again the children will have the opportunity to pray, sing and read scripture passages as well as taking part in sessions which include crafts, caring for ourselves, team challenges, cookery and drama. Parish Gift 3 will look at friendship groups, parish, God’s family and our diocese and beyond.
Each Parish GIFT programme finishes with a special Mass and a social event. In the summer of each year we have a Parish GIFT day where the children and volunteers come together for a day of fun and activity with the final Parish GIFT Mass of celebration at the end of the day.
In our Diocese 28 parishes are now involved with the Parish GIFT 1 and 2 programmes with Parish GIFT 3 due for release later this year. If you would like to find out more about starting the Parish GIFT programme in your parish, please contact us, by phone, email or Facebook.
